Designed to be in peak bloom during the summer months, this entry garden makes the most of the short New England growing season.  Sheltered from northern winds, the microclimate allows for more tender plants as well as hardy summer-blooming stalwarts.

A new kitchen renovation opened up views to an empty yard.  This new garden transformed the barren back lawn to a blooming butterfly garden.  Now a certified wildlife habitat, the garden is active with birds and bees as well, to the delight of the family.

The existing paver patio at this house was buckling and failing, and was out of proportion to the main house.  We introduced bluestone terraces, built custom fountains for aquatic plants and relocated the entry drive.  Plantings were selected to attract and feed birds.

With no gardens or shrubs on site at all, this property was a blank canvas. The new design integrated the house into the land by careful placement of bluestone terraces, deep garden beds, and a new entry drive.  Special attention was given to evergreen screens, privacy fencing, and a custom play fort.

In the midst of renovating their cottage and barn, these homeowners turned their attention to the grounds.  We surrounded the pond with lush perennials and walking trails, replaced struggling lawn with meadow plantings, and framed views of the barn from the country road.

Sited on a 70-acre horse farm, this residence needed a graceful visual transition to the barns, paddocks and pastureland beyond. Broad sweeps of meadow plantings, a shady woodland garden and carefully composed plantings integrate the main house into its surroundings.

An addition and newly built garage created an opportunity for two new garden rooms at this private residence. Stone walls define a terrace of lilac bluestone and a raised herb garden. Stepping stones wind through lush perennial borders that bloom throughout the year.

This tiered lily pool was edged in boulders from the site and stocked with tropical lilies and aquatic plants to provide a long season of textures and blooms.

A custom oval shaped swimming pool and terrace were sited in a clearing in the woods, graded and set into the hillside. The simple pergola provides shade for sitting or dining alfresco.

This planting scheme is bold in texture and color to compliment the newly chosen paint for the house. The garden peaks in fall, with amber, russet and honey tones echoing the strong warm colors of the facade.

This spring showhouse garden features a low serpentine wall, tucked under a weeping cherry and surrounded by fragrant shrubs and perennials. Custom sculptural steel panels provide structure for climbing vines and add depth to the garden.
